The Secret of getting Organized

Organize It!!

You’re probably asking yourself: “Where do I start?” Well, nationally recognized organizational and time management expert Joe Cirillo, author of It’s Your Time, says to start small – one things at a time. One of the most intimidating things about getting organized is deciding where to begin.

“If you break “it” down and just do a little at a time you will find that your life is not only getting organized,” said Cirillo, “but you are saving time and eliminating stress.”

Cirillo was featured in Oprah’s O Magazine as one the nation’s top organizational experts. He has a knack to help people organize those knick knacks, to “organize it” and start living life to the fullest.

Isn’t it time you organize it? So what exactly is it, well it could be your car, you bathroom, your closet, your kitchen cabinets, your calendar. But whatever ‘it” may be, until you take the time to organize it, you will be spinning your wheels and wasting time. Don’t do all of this at once, warns Cirillo, or you might run into burn out quicker than you can “organize it.”

Cirillo’s system adapts helper items that will not only “organize it” but also make space for “it” and the things you can never find – like your battery charger or grandma’s fine china that you only use at Thanksgiving. These things need a place to live, so you will be able to easily locate them when you need them instead of fruitlessly searching the neighborhood for them.

Cirillo lists more than 100 helper items in his book that will help you “organize it” and help gain back wasted time that has been spent finding “it.”

Here is an anecdote from Cirillo’s book that probably rings true for many people who need to organize “it.”

“Last Christmas Sarah invited our family and a few other friends and neighbors over for a buffet dinner. When we arrived, Sarah was near tears. She could not find her expensive heirloom silverware, which, she was absolutely certain, had been stolen from the middle drawer of the dining room buffet where it was kept – among other things. She had looked high and low, in all the places she habitually stashed things when she was in too much of a hurry to put them away.”

Sound familiar? Sarah needs to “organize it,” but you’ll have to read the book to hear this happy ending. It’s Your Time is an excellent guide to help you “organize it” no matter what “it” is and how much space you currently have; you’ve got to organize it and make time for you.
